Located on the Northwest side of the island in the North Kohala District 28 miles north of Kona overlooking the Royal Coast, Waikoloa is one of the most pristine communities on the island with many services available. It is a great golfing community with a very dry climate, clean air and beautiful views of turquoise and blue ocean. There are shops, gas stations, a great grocery store, restaurants, their own small plane airport near by, and more.
The air quality in Waikoloa is relatively clear of vog (volcano
fog). This area is known as a
tourist spot close to some of the best white sand beaches on the island
including A-bay
Beach (‘Anaeho’omalu Beach) at the Hilton Waikoloa
Village, the Disneyland of the Pacific. Parker Ranch is located around Waikoloa and was once the
largest single owner ranch operating in the U.S. The ranch is still in operation and many of the cowboys
can still be seen wearing their chaps in to town. Large cactus dot the landscape all around the town. The real estate market in Waikoloa is less expensive than the majority
of the state but a higher price range for the rest of the island. The cost of living is less affordable
than most areas on the island.
The area is in Lava Hazard Zone 3, which is relatively free of any
hazard from the volcanoes. The
area is very popular because of the majestic setting and its proximity to so
many good beaches and golf courses.
The availability of property in this area is good. There are condo developments and new
subdivisions with luxury properties ready to buy Some popular local points of interest include: Hilton Waikoloa Village, Old Mamalahoa Highway, and Kalopa Native Forrest State Park, Spencer Beach, Mauna Kea Beach, Hapuna Beach, Crystal Cove, Pu’ukohola Heiau, Mau’umae Beach, and numerous golf courses. |
