Located on the Northern most point of the island in the North Kohala
District, Hawi and Kapa'au and Kapa'au is a sleepy and charming community
with some limited services available.It is a very dryer climate, clean air,

plenty of wind, and beautiful views of turquoise and blue ocean and a
distant view of Maui on clear days.There are shops, gas stations, a great grocery store, restaurants, and
more.

The air quality in Hawi and Kapa'au is relatively clear of vog (volcano
fog).This area is knownfor their ranches, beaches and
whale watching.The channel between
Hawaii and Maui is full of whale activity during winter months.Parker Ranch is located near Hawi

Parker Ranch was once the largest single owner ranch operating in the
U.S.The ranches are in
operation and many of the cowboys can still be seen wearing their chaps in to
town.
The real estate market in Hawi and Kapa'au is less expensive than the
majority of the state but a higher price range for the rest of the
island.The cost of living is
less affordable than most areas on the island.The area is in Lava Hazard Zone 9, which is the safest
rating on the scale for the island.The area is very popular because of the majestic setting and its
proximity to so many good beaches and golf courses yet it is a quiet town
with little tourist traffic.The
availability of property in this area is good.Homes will come up for sale and stay on the market for a
while since the prices run a bit higher.Land is very expensive but large lots can be found.
