Miloli’i, Hawaii

Located on the southwest coast of the island, Miloli’i is a small village and a good community with a special character about 20 miles south of Kealakekua Bay.  Miloli’i’s air quality is relatively clear of vog (volcano fog).   Because it is close to the water, the lay of the land forces the vog to drift over the area rather than settle around the village.  The area is also a fantastic spot to watch the sunset over the Pacific.

The real estate market in Miloli’i is less expensive than the majority of the state but more mid-range pricing for the rest of the island.  The cost of living is affordable and the area is in Lava Hazard Zone 2, which is nearly the greatest risk of lava from Mauna Loa on the island. However Mauna Loa is not currently active. 

Most of the properties in this area have ocean views.  The availability of property in this area is consistent.  There is not a lot available but there are usually a handful of properties to choose from in this neighborhood. 

There are no cafes, gas stations, or groceries available in Miloli’i, resident will need to travel to get services.  However you will not have to travel to enjoy some of the nicest little beaches that don’t often get many visitors.  If fact there is a secret beach in the area that many people are unaware of.

Nearby points of interest include:  South Point, Green Sand Beach, Napoopoo, Kealakekua Bay, Place of Refuge (Pu`uhonua o Honaunau), Ho’okena Beach, Kainaliu, and numerous coffee farms.
